It is bounded by 135th Street to the south, 155th Street to the north, Edgecombe Avenue to the east, and Riverside Drive to the west. The neighborhood is named after Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the United States, who lived in the area during the late 18th century. Today, Hamilton Heights is known for its historic architecture, tree-lined streets, and community. The neighborhood features many historic brownstones, townhouses, and apartment buildings, many of which have been beautifully restored. Hamilton Heights is also home to several cultural institutions, including the Hamilton Grange National Memorial, which was Alexander Hamilton’s home, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
